I found out Monday that my Bodacious(TWH) was euthanized by the Amishman who was caring(?) for him for me. He was overworked on asphalt until he went lame,then euthanized. I had been unable to see him for several months,as I have moved 50 miles away & have no vehicle-Eli has no phone....
Eli expressed his regret,but it won't bring my horse back...I stopped by his farm after my Dr's appt,to let Eli know I would bring Bodie home this weekend.

I am sooo sorry to hear that, hugz to you Razzi. Words fail me right now about what happened to your Bodacious and the way you found out about it.

Thank you,Carol. This should not happen to anyone. If you MUST leave your horse in someone else's care,don't trust that they will care for your horse as you do-even if they take good care of their OWN horses, it doesn't mean they will care for YOURS as well. Lesson learned the hardest way possible....

How horrible!!!!!! Why was your horse over worked, And why would they euthanize for being lame????

Apparently,they used him, in lieu of their own Standardbred,for pulling their cart to town & back, all the time,on the road. I assume they shod him(I had him barefoot all the time I've had him)in their homemade shoes. They must have kept using him,even after he was lame,because it got so bad even Eli called out the vet-they're not known for much use of a vet. The vet recommended euthanasia,as he was totally crippled, & started losing weight,FAST(I'm sure,from the PAIN). He had a big heart,& his willingness to work while injured probably contributed to his downfall.......this all happened in a 4 month period.
Eli has 5 teenage & under sons,& they rode him a lot besides.
But blame won't bring him back...

I'm sorry, that is just so sad.
I've also seen the results of the over worked used up STDS at the sale barns, it's vary vary sad.
I'm sorry your horse went through that. Just know he's crossed the rainbow bridge and he's not lame anymore.
