I've had this bit languishing in my tack room for several months now.....My horse is a fairly 'green' 5 year old and I am a fairly 'green' re-rider.
We got stalled in the Parelli program when I was uncomfortable riding this horse without the benefit of communication thru the reins...but it took me a while to understand the 'why' of my discomfort.
So...we tried the Parelli "confidence' bit....basically a french link snaffle....all copper mouth. Kaydie did 'okay' with this bit, accepted it well and so we used it for a while. But then she started 'chomping on the bit and salivating.....ALOT!!!!
Next up was the Robarts Walking Horse bit.....NOT a good choice...at least not yet. My smooth (although probably step pacing) Kaydie started to hard pace....UGH!!!! I think the communication was just too much...for such a green horse, with such a green rider!
So, decided to go back to the tack room and try to find a happy medium....uummmm... what about that ICTB????? Well...BINGO!!!! Kaydie accepted it very willingly the first time and was not the nervous nelllie she had been in the longer shanked curb...my hands were quieter because she wasn't as nervous feeling....we had a great ride!
Now we've had our second ride with it and the difference is just amazing.....NO pace, NO step pace......just a relaxed horse, a relaxed rider and a wonderful collected running walk!
May not work for all horses.....may not work for your horse...but it sure did for mine!
