Hi everyone,
I've not been posting or even thinking of riding, as I've had major reconstruction of my right hand, which had major issues from RA. I can only type by henpecking out one letter at a time and it hurts. There've been complications and I've been kinda depressed.
On another front, our only QH (we're gaited people), Peppy foaled on June 7th. She's a red dun, and the stallion was a grullo. The foal is a colt, we named Gunner; we bred for and hope for a grullo but so far it's mystery. And then, 5 weeks after foaling Peppy, colicked, and we had to do the surgery, which we cannot afford at all. It was a complication after foaling, but now she is recovering and doing well.
If there are any color sleuths that want to guess on the color, go ahead.
In the meantime a big Hello to fellow board members and friends and a big thank you, again, to Brenda for this great board.
I'll be back in the saddle by Fall!!
Anne-Marie
Oops, link to foal pics: hope it works, I'm not technically inclined.

Glad you are back! From the heart of another RA patient! Can't tell what color your horse is... the only copy and paste I know how to do involves Kinko and glue!

Holding the cursor over the emoticon that makes a mess of the link lets me know the key strokes that reveal the horse emotiocon. In this case it is the lower case R and the number 1 together.
Instead of using the insert link option, I use the insert code tags < > and paste the link between the code tags brackets. I delete the emoticon that is causing the problem and replace it with the letter/number combination that it should be.

| Welcome back Mountainhorse. Congrats on your new baby. Sorry to hear about your mare but glad she is okay. I know those unexpected vet bills can hurt. Between my dog and horse this month alone I paid out $320 in vets bills. But our "babies" are worth it even if it means beans every night! RA can be so painful, I have autoimmune disease also. They are so unpredictable. I hope after you are healed up from the surgery you will get to experience great improvement! So keep on pecking, this is a good place to come when you are depressed. Hugs, Joy B

I am guessing grullo. But I cannot tell from the pictures for sure what color the dorsal stripe is or the color around the ears and face. If the dorsal stripe is black and the hair around the face and ears are black. Then more than likely it is grullo.
Here is an excellant site to help you determine, even has foal pictures:

slip - cool website! Beautiful horses!
That little bugger may very well be grulla, which ever he is very cute. I love babies!

| I vote for Grulla also! My home computer is mouse-free, so I used the clunker at work. Thanks for directions Karal!

| I'd say he's gonna be a Grulla. The dorsal stripe is too dark for a dun.

I love the duns with their primitive markings. I'm guessing he'll be a dun, but he might shed off grullo. I have a feeling he's gonna shed off darker. Whatever, he has striking markings and I know you must be thrilled. Do you have any updated photos of the little booger. What's his name? (maybe I missed that in reading the above)

FYI: you all can cut and paste a link-smiley faces and all - into the URL at the top of the browser window. It will still come out fine. . .the browser will only 'see' the html.

Sorry Brenda, but I tried that with Mountain horse's post above and it did not work. It would take out the smiley face, but it would not replace it with the _1 that the smiley face is taking the place of, therefore it would not load.

I had a dun gelding....was a very golden dun (many people called him a golden buckskin), with the very wide black dorsal, spider webbing on his face, and black around his eyes and nose. He had wither bars and stripes on his legs. The only picture I saw of him as a baby was somewhat similar to this colt. That's why I was leaning in that direction. At the same time we also had a dark silver grulla filly. Same primitive markings (only more of them), but she was lighter silver as a baby and shed out the to an almost lavendar shade of dark silver grulla. (Sadly, we lost her before her 2nd birthday).
It will be very interesting to see how he finishes out. Keep us posted!!
