I am looking to buy a gaited weanling or yearling.  I have my heart set on a buckskin.

Here are two fillies that I am considering.  What are your opininons.  I am looking for a nice trail horse, athletic, tall wonderful sweet personality.  Bloodlines don't really matter to me, I am not buying a horse for breeding.

They are both really cute.  I'd pick one that is promoted as naturally gaited or can show gait already.  I'm pretty sure most of the horses are born with the gait ability as I've seen past ads for horses where the little ones are gaiting alongside their mom's right away.  It would save you a lot of headache later on.  I don't really agree that bloodlines don't count, since it does give you the ability to look at the ancestors and see what kind of temperament and/or gaits that they have.

I like the look of the second filly. She has a shorter back, and great muscling through the gaskin area. This is SO important with a gaited horse, as these structures give support to the stifles - and stifle problems are common with gaited horses.

Good luck!

Yea, I vote the Rocky too. The second one, I like the confirmation although I am no expert. I do like my Rocky. The temperment is incredible. They are curious and outgoing without being pushy and mine has a very sweet nature. I know you can't ride personality but it sure lends itself to easy training. :D

I like the 2nd filly - and I can also give you some input on the people who list her for sale.  I bought my Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse from them 2 years ago.  I dealt with Jane and Eric.  They were very nice, honest, knowledgeable and helpful people, and they have a bunch of beautiful, healthy, well cared for horses.  I wouldn't hesitate to buy another horse from them.

Good luck!

I think they are both nice. I guess I am different than everyone else and see something in the first filly. I really like her long neck, keen head and ears better. However, I know nothing about either one's bloodlines so I don't have anything to compare to as far as the future. Good luck on your search and I am sure you will be blessed with whatever horse decides to come into your life.

Yes I did, I purchased the KMH filly.  We are renting an RV and taking a family vacation to go and pick her up in Augest.  The seller has sent me short videos and she looks really sweet, all legs.  I will post photos when we bring her home.

We just got back from getting her.  She is one of Jane's horses.  She is 5 months old.  She got right in the trailer even though it was dark out.  We left at 0530 in the morning and drove straight through, we got home in MN at around 6 PM.  She was calm in the trailer the whole trip!  She ate and drank, but never laid down.  She was loose in a 2 horse with the center divider removed.  She is a very sweet little girl.
