| I love the run walk, but honestly, my favorite gait is the lope, canter, whatever you want to call it, and I get a real rush from a full out gallop at top speed across a wide open prairie field. Last edited on Fri Feb 16th, 2007 12:49 pm by

THE PACE-it will beat every gait hands down-my horses can pace a lick on rough terrain, for hours at 20-30 mph and smoothly.
There is a new society that FINALLY recognizes the pacers check it out-

I know all about those smooth pacers. Memebers of my family ride and compete. I've got pics posted everywhere. FUN? OH YEAH!!! Good for the horse? I've seen 'em blow. Not pretty and always an after thought.
Welcome to the board! Watched the vid of the week - looks broken to me. Singlefoot? Nice.Last edited on Thu Feb 15th, 2007 03:07 am by whattarack

Hey KYAngel,
How did you get your nice photo added at the bottom of your post? I have been asking everyone but no one seems to know. I just today finally got the one posted but would love to put the one of him 'Parked Out'. The previous owner taught Rascal all sorts of tricks...he's hilarious! Waves his front foot when he see his feed coming. He's not pawing he waves! He get's so excited over his feed he'll keep waving at the feed bucket as he eats. Cracks me up!

The poll won't allow me to vote for some reason, but if I could, my vote would be for my TWH's lovely rocking horse canter, but then again, we LOVE to full-out gallop too. We've both got the need for speed.

I love anything smooth, but I have favorites for each individual horse. My palomino is smooth in all gaits, but he has this far-reaching fantabulous....um, um... what is it? I guess what I'd call his show-rack. His fast rack. It's amazing. The first time he ever id it my cheeks hurt from smiling so big after I slowed him down.
Our little fox trotter does this extraordinary canter where there is nearly no bounce at all. It's unusually smooth and folks riding him for the first time always go "WOW!". it's hard to encourage him to do a fast rack when his canter is so awesome. Our son likes for him to canter more than rack so it's been hard for me to make him consistent. I may just give up in favor of the canter!

That sounds like my Thunder, he loves to skip the gaits and go into his rocking chair canter. I love it. It is so nice, that im the same way, I let him do it, but I still work on the gaits again after we both have had our fun!! Thunder and I both like to play more than work. Thats why were still working on the gaits after 2 years now.

My poor little fox trotter has had such a hard time. He had one of those intense quickie trainings and then was sold to us where my son got on him and let him do whatever he wanted to do. Four months later, he rarely gaits. I'm riding him now to tune him up and and my saddle fits him poorly. I've built up my pad to help until his custom saddle comes in (didn't know about Brenda's saddles at the time) but he was so out of whack that I had to start from the beginning with him. He's got a great smooth rack (when I can get him in it), but he launches into a trot at every opportunity so it's slow going. I'm trying to undo what's been done and reinstall the right things. He's super smart and we'll get there, but it's sooooo tempting just to fast forward and enjoy that amazing canter! Patience Tracey, patience....

I myself love the way "Harry" moves out into the "Running Walk!"
The FASTER he goes, the smoother he gets, and the more the world just seems to pass you under it's feet!
Cool! Ain't it!
