I finally have an internet connection that is fast enough for me to do videos, so I thought you all my like to see my horse in action.
[Okay, I guess I'm not sure how to add the link any suggestions?]Last edited on Mon Dec 10th, 2007 07:21 pm by MTRA872

| You can upload the video on photobucket.com and link that to here. If the emoticons get in the way, sometimes I can fix that for you.

That is way awesome!! I can't imagine sitting a trot side saddle, or even worse a pace!

I enjoyed watching that. Thanks for sharing. I particularly liked your side passing and the cues you used.
Just out of curiosity. What determines which side your legs are off to on a side saddle. Is there any etiquette, left hand/right hand?. For some reason strange questions always pop up in my head.

Outstanding riding display!
Thanks for sharing!!! That looked like a bozal (sp?) you ride in, is it? How old is your Blackjack and how long have you been riding him?
You do your own training, I hope, if so you do good work, if not someone does.

The question about which side your legs are on is a good one. Traditionally saddles are "near-side" which means you sit with your legs on the horse's near, or left, side. This is because you would normally mount the horse from the left side.
You may have noticed that my saddle is backwards, or "off-side," sitting me on the horse's right side. Off-side saddles are often custom made for handicapped riders who cannot sit the "normal" way. In my case, my right leg from my hip down is prosthetic. The reason I cued him for the sidepass using my hands is because I am unable to give any leg cues to him at all, since my prosthetic leg is the one against his side, and my "good" leg is the one up over his neck. When I ride him sidesaddle, he works completely off voice, hand and seat signals.
BlackJack is 17 (fifteen when the video was taken.) I've had him since he was 7. I ride him exclusively in a bosal, except in show ring competition, then I use a low port curb bit with 5" shanks.Last edited on Tue Dec 11th, 2007 12:56 am by MTRA872
